Lift Off #2

Lee and I have talked about when we can go to FLA and pack and purge Mom. We need to find a mover. Scott has asked the realtor for a recommendation. Lee will make some calls and see what's out there.

I would like to ideally go down to FLA to pack and purge and then escort Mom to her new home. But this is not definitive.

We'll keep everyone posted on what the timeline looks like for this, when we can get a mover lined up for, when the car can be transported (can the car be shipped with the rest of her stuff since she doesn't have enough for the minimum weight requirement for the large movers)

Good night all.

  1. I spoke to Larissa and Ellie at Atria

    1) The room is ready (new carpeting and painted) and they will touch up where they hung pictures, etc.

    2) They will provide the standard furniture (twin bed, dresser, night stand and wing chair)

    3) We need to send them a copy of Mom's medications (they didn't get that from the assessment) - Eric - Larissa said you have her email address. Could you do that?

    4) It was suggested that when we deliver Mom, it be during the day so the staff is there as needed

    5) We need to decide who will be the guarantor for Mom's lease. Since she will be paying a month in advance, I think this is a non-issue. I am happy to do this. It might be easiest since I will probably be 'delivering' her there to move in.

    6) Because of the time she reserved the room and when her doctor's exam was, she should move in by the end of July.

    7) They have not received the Doctor's forms from Dr. Z. Deb will call on Monday to have it sent

    8) Larissa asked, if possible, she move in on Tuesday through Saturday since those are the days she works

Hillary and I will work on deciding when we can go down to FL.

  2. I think we need to stick to the agreement we set up earlier that centralizes communication with each third party into one of us: the lawyer, the movers, Atria, the doctors, etc. The risk otherwise is that we either confuse them, confuse us, or annoy them, or all three. We all know that if we don't do this, we risk giving inconsistent information or directions which will just wind up delaying the whole deal.

Shelley's been working hard since Mom went back down getting all the medical stuff setup and has spoken with Nurse Amy (and some of her staff) multiple times. She's also been working with Theresa to make sure we have all the necessary information in place for Mom to be accepted. Since all of the interested parties have been in and out on vacation, this has been quite a task to coordinate. She got Amy to call an outside medical evaluator to speed up the process.

The evaluation was never supposed to collect her meds or medical history, just determine if she's capable of living at Atria and what level of care she needs (FYI, the initial assessment is Level 2). Larissa is only involved because she handles the pricing and contract - she isn't really involved in any of the medical care per se; Shelley's already checked with Amy in the last day or two and she claims to have all the info she needs. I don't think either Larissa or definitely not Ellie either has anything to do with the medical stuff, or have the latest status. Shelley will double-check with Amy when she gets back from vacation on Tuesday.

As you can see, it's a complex web.

In (7), are you talking about the forms for Atria (again, Amy said she has everything) or those for Debbie's practice? Obviously, she proceed if it's the latter; if it's for Atria, let Shelley deal with Amy.

Shelley's also been talking with Theresa on the room setup and we know what's included from the beginning. Even Mom seems to know.

You are welcome to guarantee the lease. As far as I can tell from reading it (it's in Dropbox), she can cancel with 30 days notice, so you're only on the hook for that much if she dies broke.

As I think you know from my posts, I've been coordinating with Mom, the Agent, and the Lawyer so pass any questions you have through me. The key next step is to get the contract signed. We can't get the contract signed until we have the closing date. We can't pick a closing date until we understand when we can have the apartment emptied of anything not staying according to the contract (thanks, Hillary, for the list) by that date. I think once we get this set, the contract can get signed quickly. The buyer's have asked for a Aug 13 closing.

Move Team: if there's anything you need from Shelley or me to move your part of the program forward, please let us know.

Here's a bit of intersection between the Move and Contract teams: I'll have to find out if she needs to be present in Florida for the close; that would be a real coordination problem, so I assume we can handle it by proxy or remotely somehow.
